People of Ghandruk

The people in the area mainly belong to the Gurung ethnic group with Kamis, Magars, Sarkis, Damais, Brahmins, Chetris, Newars and Rais forming the remainder of the population. Ghandruk is a popular tourist destination attracting both local and foreign tourists. In addition to tourism, the main sources of income are agriculture and services for the police and military. Of the total population at least one member of each family works ‘out of country’ to generate an income to support their families.

The local people are socially active and have formed committees which are working for the welfare of their society. The Health-post Management Committee is associated with SPHMN.
